Why is freedom of speech important to you?

Freedom of speech is important to me, because of all the freedoms we have, it is the one freedom that is not constrained by the resources at one's disposal. Not one of the freedoms that are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution have the immediacy and accessibility as that of speech. Yes, this freedom can be influenced, abused, and abridged by the powerful, like all freedoms. However, it is one that can be reclaimed the fastest by an individual. It does not depend on a group or numbers, or depend on anyone else to make it for it to be used. To say whatever one wants, whenever one wants, how one wants gives the power of the word to an individual, unhindered by limits. That is why it's important. Unlike any other freedom, it's the only freedom I and others truly possess. That's why I will let no one take it away from me. It's mine!
