Writer's Block: Being used

Have you ever broken off a relationship with a friend because it was unhealthy for your self-esteem? Were you proud of your decision or did you regret it?

In all honesty, I'd have to say no.  There are times where I had relationships that were unhealthy for my self-esteem, but in all (yes all) of those occasions, they were the ones who broke it off when they had their fun with me.  One could argue that they were the ones with self-esteem issues, but that's another matter entirely.

As I recently mentioned, there were times I pushed people away who were trying to help me, but those decisions were actually unhealthy for my self esteem and I actually do regret it now.  As I've learned since then, when you are pushing someone away because you feel as though they're bad for your reputation, well-being, morals, self-esteem or whatever, you actually need to look in the mirror to make sure you're not the one with the problem.
